Hans Zimmer needs to be listened to under the best headphones you can afford. There are so many layers and little cues that make up his work!

Five more songs I have to stop myself from singing at work
1) "Vanity" by Yuki Kajiura This is a wonderful song about being afraid to love. For the two people who were reading my Devil May Cry future-fic, this is Maria and Nero's theme. I have an image of them dancing in a very formal setting to the last minute or so of this.
2) "Ballad" by Inoue Marina Japanese, I think from an anime. Absolutely gorgeous.
3) "Heroes and Thives" by Vanessa Carlton I got this from someone's Final Fantasy IX fanmix, and it nails Dagger and Zidane perfectly.
4) "Rock Your Soul" by Elisa I first heard this at a ballet recital a couple of years ago. Very poignant.
5) "Hold On, Hold On" by Neko Case This is about as country as I get. Wonderfully bitter lyrics.

Writing update

- Need to pick a prompt for the nextroads_diverged and just write the damn thing instead of just thinking about writing it (DMC)
- Start on the Pride prompt forthesevensins (FF X)
- Tangent to writing, but still important to my writing process: put together Maria's soundtrack and start listening to it (DMC)
That should get me to the end of February

My second favorite part of the Inauguration

hopefulMy second favorite part was the quartet. I've seen Itzhak Perlman as a bitty kid on Sesame Street eons ago, and Yo Yo Ma is just amazing, as always. The clarinet (which I used to play) is the sweetest sounding I've probably ever heard. Enjoy!

Music lyric quiz thingy
Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line(s) from the first 20 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song. (Skip the instrumentals, the remixes and the mashups)
Step 3: Let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike out the songs when someone guesses correctly.
I skipped the ones not in English, as well as one I could not find lyrics for or understand the lyrics of. :-p Some of the more off the wall ones will probably be posted for download this weekend. ;-)
( I probably skipped 3 times as many songs as I posted... )
