I learned bad lessons from my parents about spending even when you don't have money. I'm trying to be better.

Also, Wal-Mart is a terribly racist and homophobic company.

Those are the remains of my Sam's Club credit card. I got it years ago as a way to buy groceries after I got fired from a job. But instead of paying it off and closing it when I got hired again, I got in the habit of using it.

But I need to not use it. I need to not buy so much crap. I need to not eat out at lunch so much.

*drops remains into trash*

1) New icon by indigo. MWAH! Love it!

2) Got my bonus. More than I expected, so I plan to pay off a long-standing hospital bill I've been slowly chipping away at for years. That'll free up $100 a month to put towards other bills and maybe even savings.

3) Finished watching Elemental Gelade this morning. I was quite pleased with how it turned out, after being a bit "eh" about it after the second disk. I gave it 4 stars on NetFlix (the ending is a bit too perfect for my tastes), but I would recommend it. Next up is Hellsing.

4) Almost done with the first season of Babylon 5. Much like the first season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, it's fairly hit and miss, but there are a lot of characters I like so I'm planning on sticking with it.

5) Been playing Titan Quest: Immortal Throne. Love it muchly. If you love Diablo, you'll love this.

6) Not writing. Need to remedy this, pronto.

Citigroup buys Wachovia for billions and billions of dollars.

My mortgage, which I am proud to say I've never been late on, is with Wachovia.

*flails* Guess I need to call my credit union STAT and get that stuff taken care of... CitiGroup is a CREDIT CARD company, I sure as hell don't want them putting their germs all over my mortgage and house.

Credit Unions rule. I am so moving all my business as soon as possible.

Wrote three things yesterday:
1) 102 words for the Springkink prompt Kingdom Hearts, Roxas/Demyx: ocean/sea - saltwater. Came out more blatant than I'd thought at first, but I like it.
2) Redecorating, for the ffvii_100 prompt "Hidden Talents"
3) An unsolicited 231 words about Freya from FF IX called A Chance to Be.

Feeling much less stressed now, which is good.

Bad news: The heater is making a not-nice new sound, which involves loud rumbling, shaking the floor a bit, then cutting off instead of winding down.

Bad news: I can't do any refinancing until after the house comes off the market in 10 days (not that I'm counting...).

Good news: My brother-in-law works for a company that manufactures and sells state of the art environmentally friendly HVAC systems and will be more than happy to sell me one at cost.

Bad news: The technician to install it won't be certified until April 11.

Good news: The guy's willing to come out tomorrow morning before his 9am job to look at my system and see if there's anything he can do to make it limp for the few more weeks I'll actually need it running.

Good news: Since my house is not selling, the developer I had put a reserve on a plot with is willing to give me my $500 back if I go sign a release form. It only releases my hold on that particular plot - I can still go back and buy a house with them whenever I can.

Got the federal refund deposited yesterday, so today I paid off the surgeon from last year, my part of the car taxes, and made an extra credit card payment.

Then I went to Amazon.com and bought some things. :-)

I'll probably do something similar when the state refund comes in.

I don't know when today, but if you can spare me a thought, I'll be getting my review and will be asking for a raise.

I've also got a plan for money issues, since it's pretty obvious the house isn't going to sell. I've done my taxes and will be getting a nice chunk of change back (sold stock at a loss, and all the medical bills). Then there's my bonus in March. And then whatever the government hands out after that. Even if I don't get the raise, I'll go to my bank with numbers and get refinanced. Then I can pay off a credit card and chop it up, get the heating and AC replaced, and get a bigger Craftmatic bed.
