I don't think we're in Kansas anymore...

But I'm not sure, because it's raining so hard and gotten so dark I CAN'T SEE ANYTHING FURTHER THAN A BLOCK AWAY OUT MY WINDOW AT WORK.

The constant lightning doesn't make it any better, either. I'm in a major high rise, and the lights have flickered a few times.

The wind can't decide which way to blow, so it's going to blow all ways at once.

I wish I could take pictures and show y'all this.

Bright clear day

No clouds in the sky, nice cool breeze, bright sunshine... all of my family came through the storms OK. I've got one big limb down in the back corner of my lot, but other than that it's fine.

So now I'm going to go hook up my shiny new PS3 and play with Nero and Dante for a bit. ;-)

Quick update, between storms

I'm posting this, then shutting the computer off again.

I am OK. There was a funnel cloud seen in the town 10 miles up the road where my parents and little sister and her family live, but Mom didn't say she saw it when she called me a few minutes ago.

Lots of rain, lots of wind, heard something tree-ish break earlier but no thumps, don't see anything out my windows, not going to look until morning.

If you're interested, here's my WeatherUnderground page.

Ah, there goes the thunder again. Love y'all. Talk to you in the morning.

Weather stuff

I'm already under a Tornado Watch. :-p

I've got enough groceries until tomorrow, so I think I'll just put off trying to do a quick errand run until then. :-p

Bleh

Lost power due to the storms somewhere before 9pm, and it didn't get turned back on until 4:54am.

The house was 60 degrees by then.

My sinuses are about to explode out of my head, and the vertigo keeps trying to throw me on the floor.

So, yes, I'm at home, how're y'all? :-p

One thing about working in a high rise

Watching this massive, killer storm come in can be kinda cool.

I can watch the rain being blown in.

A few years ago, when I worked at a law firm, a huge thunderstorm rolled in, and the absolute delineation between storm and not-storm was incredible.

I should be OK from this... the drive home won't be fun, but we shouldn't get more than rain and wind here.

They've called off the wintery weather

...game on...

You have gots to be kidding me...

Rain will spread into the central Savannah River area of Georgia
and central South Carolina Saturday morning. The rain is expected
to mix with and change to snow... or a mixture of rain and snow...
mainly north and west of line extending through Augusta... Columbia
... Camden and Cheraw Saturday afternoon. Southeast of this line...
the rain may mix with some snow. The chance of precipitation will
diminish Saturday evening.

The latest information indicates snow accumulation will be around
1 inch in areas north of Columbia... with amounts of 1 inch or
less elsewhere.

Thank goodness I went grocery shopping yesterday...

RAIN!

It's RAINING!!!

*would go out and stand in it if I wasn't feeling slightly feverish-icky*

We've been under such a drought here in South Carolina... while we haven't had the restrictions our Georgia neighbors have had, it's still been way too dry for this part of the country.

HOT~!!!

Holy gods. It was 105 yesterday, and will be at least that again today, with a heat index approaching 120.

And no, South Carolina is not usually this hot. Upper 90's, yes, but the normal summer weather pattern is broken right now. There have been no afternoon thunderstorms to cool things off, so when I woke up yesterday morning at 4am (business trip), it was already 81 degrees. By 6:30am, when I'm normally going out to get the newspaper, it's approaching 90.

My poor old AC has to run 24/7 just to keep the house at 78 degrees. You don't want to know my electric bill, trust. me. :-p
