New Hanna update

According to the latest at NOAA's webpage, looks like Hanna's taking an extended tour of the Bahama's (who can blame her!) and won't get here until later Friday. Gives me a few more hours of breathing room, but it still will be a Cat 2 when it slams into the coast, which means it could still be close to hurricane strength by the time it crawls up the interstate to my house.

The main thing I will have to worry about is tree limbs. I'm surrounded by pine trees, and they shed branches in storms like crazy. Note to self: get up to the attic and get down the boxes of books, any art, anything that you'd be devastated if it got wet and ruined.

Also should get caught up on the laundry, just in case. Probably try to run last loads Thursday.

Count ostomy supplies, make sure there's enough for 4 or 5 changes and wafer disasters.

Watch, with all this, she'll decide to just wander up the coast instead. ;-)

Hey, if she wanders up the coast instead of coming to visit you, that's better than you not being prepared and getting hit. And even if she does come to see you, we'll keep our fingers crossed that she isn't hurricane strength by then.

How far inland are you?

Good luck, whichever way she goes, though! :) Keep us posted.
I'm about 90 miles or so inland from Charleston, a bit farther inland if she comes in through Savannah. Basically, Columbia is smack dab in the middle of the state.
We are keeping the fingers crossed for you.
Well, if it misses you, at least you'll be prepared for the next possible storm.
Which is good, because Ike is right on Hanna's tail, with Josephine out there as well. Oi...
Well, I hope you don't get too badly hit during the entire season. The farthest south I've ever lived is Baltimore, so I haven't had a huge amount of experience with hurricanes/tropical storms. Except for that time when Ivan took a right turn toward PA and flooded the area I was in fairly badly.

(Then again, that was the storm with the weirdest path ever.)
Too be honest, we haven't been nadly hit since Hugo in 1989, really. Some have brushed the coast, but nothing's really taken direct aim that didn't curve off a day or two ahead of time. I'm still hoping that all the hurricane-turning abilities I used when I lived in Charleston are still good. ;-)
Best of luck to you.

Yeowch! No kidding! *hugs* Best of luck on the storm passing you right the heck by.
