Gods, Dell has terrible technical support

I've been in contact with these guys since SUNDAY. Here's what I just got.

Dear Jennifer Sigman,

Thank you for contacting Dell Technical Support.

I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you so far. The Windows XP CD has been dispatched now.

We have shipped CD on the following address.

(my home address)

You should receive the CD within next 3 to 5 business days, depending upon the availability of the part in stock. The case and dispatch number is:

Case #

Dispatch #

You can use the dispatch number for tracking the shipment by calling at ***.

I apologize I would not be able to send you the Drivers and Resource CD for your system as the system is End of Life and is no longer under shipping.
I bought this computer LESS THAN TWO YEARS AGO! Yeesh!

However all the drivers are available at: www.support.dell.com

You can get all the drivers by going under drivers and downloads section and entering the system service tag.

Alternatively, you may also get in touch with the Expired warranty department for the driver links as the warranty on your system is expired.

It is a fee-based phone support by Dell?s Expired Warranty Support team and they can be reached at 1-888-261-1716.

So... 72+ hours and 4 emails to get just the operating system CD, which, with my luck, won't even be here until the middle of next week, considering the holiday. I really don't think my next computer will be a Dell...

Gah, that sucks.

Do you have PC World over there? I’ve never been disappointed with their service. (Then again I’ve never had to ask for help after a warranty has run out either)
I don't think we have a PC World. We have a CompuZone, which I refuse to deal with since they screwed a friend of mine earlier this year.

Next time, I'll just go to Best Buy or Circuit City and buy something off the shelf... :-p I don't game on PCs anymore, so I don't need big honkin' machine, just something to run the internet and word processing.
Dell is absolutely shiteous! I have an XPS desktop and had premium support, but even that sucked. Back in 2004, I ordered it with 500 GB, dual CD/DVD drives, and so on. It crashed and burned in 2007 and when I called, they said that the computer wasn't designed to have a drive that big, blah blah. Then WHY did they allow me to build it that way?!?!

Um... yeah. OK. o_0
