Mostly for sheer bad-assery. Some bonus points for being a softy underneath.

Life is what you make it.

Life goes on.

Just live.

As with many things, I've come into the collection of this late, so I'm missing a lot and having problems tracking older things down. The fact that I live in South Carolina doesn't help at all, since the number of stores that specialize in this kind of thing in my city can be counted on one hand with a finger or two left over. :-p So I have the first three volumes of Descendants of Darkness and the first six volumes of Rurouni Kenshin, and will probably have to resort to Amazon in order to get the rest. I'm still able to get Fullmetal Alchemist, and I'm up to volume nine of that. I've got bits and bobs of other series... some .hack stuff, all six volumes of Akira, and the two books they put out for Devil May Cry 3. My guilty pleasure is the Kingdom Hearts manga. *squishes Sora when he isn't looking*

What I'm finding, especially with the Fullmetal Alchemist manga, is how different the anime is. Things are cut out, or expanded, or made up on the spot for television. It's why I keep holding out hope for someone to get the balls to translate the Elfen Lied manga. Because I don't like reading it online, and the time I tried there were whole bunches in the middle missing. :-p

Noise for me is divided into two catagories: noise I create and noise other people create. Noise I create, whether from working, crazy weird music (like the band Boris or the composer Ryuichi Sakamoto), is OK. Barking dogs at 2am, explosions, loud parties next door, etc., not so much. :-p

True story! When I was 5 and 6 years old, living in the Washington, D.C. area, I took voice lessons from a semi-retired opera singer. I don't remember her name, but she taught by the Suzuki method, which means we learned by listening. So today, even if I have never heard a song before, I can hum the melody by the end of the song.

I don't think I've ever actually seen an opera, at least not all the way through, though.
