Saturday morning running around
It's these kinds of Saturday mornings that I want to be doing for the next 40 years of my life.
I woke up when I wanted to, being cuddled by two purring cats (Goldeneye was on patrol). Then I go took a good shower that didn't have to be cut short because of a sudden lack of hot water or joint pain while I'm trying to scrub or whatever. The bag change went perfectly, no accidents or messes, and the skin looks healthy. Had my coffee and a glass of cranberry juice while perusing the Internet.
Today I never got hungry enough to want to eat something, so I got up and started a load of laundry, then gathered up some clothes that don't fit anymore together. Had my grocery list and a recipe for what will be the cheesiest mac and cheese casserole on the face of the planet and headed out the door.
I love the Pruis, especially because it has an auxiliary port I can plug my 2GB MP3 player in to. I'm big into trip chaining and taking the route that will minimize the amount of gas I'll use, so I basically start "at the top" (the furthest away store) and work my way back to my house. So first stop is the little shop I get the cat food at (they love the dry food now, never did eat any of the wet food), where I am greeted and snuggled as I'm checking out by the very soft-coated shop cat Zoey.
Next is a thrift store to turn clothes that don't fit right anymore into wonderful clothes that fit right. It supports the Palmetto Children's Hospital, so I'm more than happy to shop there (both my niece Raven and my asthmatic nephew Caleb have spent time there). I got away with a steal - a jean dress that still had the Sears tags on it, a brown full length crushed velvet dress (I have no idea when I'll wear it, but it fit PERFECTLY, so I took it), and two floor length with knee-high slit skirts cost me just over $15. While I'm there, they tell me about the Amish shop that just opened, so off I go.
Right now they sell groceries and make sandwiches, but they plan to open a bakery in the next month or two. I will definitely add this place to my grocery store trips every week... the people are REALLY Amish, and the food was incredible. I picked up some oat cereal (I love plain Cheerios, especially if my gut's misbehaving), some cheese, and some homemade strawberry spread that will probably send my mouth into an orgasm when I try it later. They also sell homemade candies, nuts, pastas, and had a lot of different flours.
Then it was off to the Publix for the rest of the shopping. I'm buying lots more organic stuff these days, and Publix has a great selection that really isn't too expensive. I've also made a decision to become as vegetarian as possible; after a roast beef sandwich yesterday, I was absolutely dragging my ass around the rest of the day, which doesn't happen when I have cheese or tofu noodles or things of that nature. I will allow myself a steak out every once in a while, and Dad makes some excellent, simple roasts, but I think for the most part it will be better in the long run if I keep it to a minimum.
And now I'm home again, with the front and back doors open with the screens on so that the breeze can come through and refresh the house. I'll finish up some laundry, make something with that strawberry jam, maybe watch some Angel, play some more Devil May Cry 2, and just try to keep things simple for a while. It's healing, considering how hectic the other six days of the week are.
