The Corner of Insanity

I think I've mentioned once before that my nightmares are 95% about me not being able to move fast enough to avoid Impending Doom. Thankfully, if they hit when I'm awake enough, I can grab control of it and not end up waking up flailing and scaring the kitties off the bed.

This one turned around and BIT ME. So I've been working on it, and wanted to get this down before I forgot/lost my nerve/whatever.

There are a pair of elven twins: Ka'Nael is the woman, Ranger class; Ka'Zoal is the man, Ranger/Cleric with some prophetic dreams. There's the halfling thief (unnamed at the moment) and his occasional sidekick the Bored Warrior (also unnamed). There's Trosph (male) the assassin, Renfa (female) the mage, and Uber Cleric (female, unnamed).

The world they live in hasn't seen rain in a generation or two. As a result, the world is dying, humanity is fighting over increasingly limited resources, and things generally suck. Ka'Zoal has a dream that a tower in a desert is the reason, so he and Ka'Nael go off to Make Things Right. Along the way they meet the Thief and Bored Warrior, who has a map that has a lot of ancient writing on it. Some of the writing seems to be relevant to their interests, so off they go.

There's some hand-waving Stuff Happens here, and somehow they meet up with Trosph who can read some of the other writing on the map, and he goes with them, too.

More Stuff Happens, and they get to the town/city where Renfa lives inside the castle/enclave of mages. They want nothing to do with the rest of the world, but Renfa and Trosph lay eyes on each other and Ka'Zoal just smiles, so Renfa stands up to her father the leader of the mages and gets tossed out, but she brings another map and an impressive collection of spells with her.

More Stuff, including Trosph being targeting by some jealous faction of the assassins and Renfa being declared Anathema and having mage-killers sent after her. They finally meet up with Uber Cleric, who translates the last bit of the map. They need to find a staff, which is of course guarded by a dragon, so off they go.

Hand-waving here, dragon is slain, staff is acquired. Which has writing on it. Which tells exactly where the tower is that they need to go to in order to break the curse on the world and bring the rain back.

More hand-waving, they find the tower but it's surrounded by an army of demons who have been using this opportunity to get ready to overrun the weakened races. Somehow the group gets to the entrance of the tower, but only the staff-bearing can enter. Renfa does, and slogs her way up a zillion stairs (here's the original nightmare), fighting things as she goes while the rest of the group fights things outside. She finally gets to the top and jams the staff where it's supposed to go, which both starts the rain and summons a Really Pissed Off Demon General. Trosph fights his way up there to see Renfa nearly killed, and Epic Fight for Love ends with the RPODG's death.

Uber Cleric heals Renfa. Group starts to go their separate ways (Bored Warrior got bored), elf people escort Uber Cleric home, and R&T begin to work on making a life together (especially once Renfa discovered that Sex Is Fun!).
