So, I finished Crisis Core last night

I cried like a baby. I knew what was coming, and I still cried. When Zack cried over the Angeal monster clone's death, I cried.

I ached for Sephiroth, so alone and unable to reach out again after Angeal vanished, and for Cloud, when he curled up on the bed in the Nibelheim inn, not wanting to talk about why he didn't want to see anyone in his home town, and again when he was dragging the Buster Sword across the wasteland.

There are parts of the story I still don't know. Why did Lazard hate Shinra? And why did he turn into a Angeal clone?

But I will definitely be replaying it eventually. I only got 40-ish % of the missions done, and did not complete either the Wutai spy or the Seven Wonders of Nibelheim subquests. I also didn't mess around much with materia combining. I never seemed to get anything decent out of it, so I quit doing it after sacrificing my Steal materia (won't be doing that again).

My biggest complaint is with some of the English voice acting. Genesis and Angeal were fine, and I did eventually get used to Gippal/Zack. But George Newman needs to be dumped. He put so little emotion into Sephiroth that several of the more important scenes lost some of their punch.

My "What-if"-o-matic is working overtime, from beginning to end, with all kinds of "Well, what if they forced Sephiroth to go?" and "What if Cissnei and Zack hooked up?" I'm sure they'll show up in prompt communities across the internet. ;-)

Short version: Yes, you want this. You may know how it ends, but the trip there is incredible.

*hugs* It is a good game. I sobbed. Last time I played it, during the last scene of Cloud and Zack, someone on tv was playing Amazing Grace on bagpipes. Needless to say, that made me cry harder.

Poor Lazard. His nasty younger half-brother gets to be vice-president, and he gets stuck dealing with SOLDIERs.

*hugs all the characters and needs to finish the game again*
I don't usually play games again back to back, but... I may make an exception in this case. There's just SO MUCH I know I missed.

Do they say out right that Lazard is another Shinra? Or inferred from a mission/subquest I missed?
If I remember right it's hinted at in some of the emails you get. Don't remember which specifically, but...
Gotcha. I know I missed out on a lot of stuff because I kinda flew through the first 3 or 4 chapters.
*nods* It's inferred, because there are mentions of another child of Shinra's working there, and then confirmed in one of the things from Squeenix itself.

There are a few missions you can't access at all after you hit Nibelhiem.

If you saved your game, you should be able to do a new game plus, which lets you have everything you ended the first game with. It's -shiny-. And let me know if you need help with the materia fusion. I gots a chart.
Oh yes, I have a new game plus... YAY for having everything you ended with.

Oooh... charts... can has?
