Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Visually perfect. Dust motes in the air, pollen from the flowers, reflections of light, just everything shows an incredible attention to detail.

The sound is mostly excellent. There are a couple of times when I could tell where they cut a song to insert a filler piece, but I'm very musically inclined and most people may not notice it. They replaced a couple of songs entirely - one of the new pieces was a very haunting rendition of "Anxious Heart" that I need to find.

The best part of the sound? Masamune SINGS. Sweet Goddess, it sings. I'm sure there will be fic about this. ;-)

The new translation is wonderful. Really improves the story quite a bit, even in the parts that didn't change.

Kadaj is more insane, to the point of being legitimately scary a couple of times.

I haven't watched any of the extras yet, so I may have more comments then.

Okay, I give. I can find the dub version, the raw version with no subtitles, and that's it. Where did you get yours? I've been trying to watch the one I torrented when it was first released in Japan, and the audio and video are off JUST enough that it's driving me guano! This is my second attempt, I'm up to the fight between Loz and Tifa in the church, and I'm about to give up again (same place I gave up last time).

I pre-ordered it from Amazon.com, and the disk came yesterday. You might want to ask [info]guiltyred about a download, they had a good one.

Okay, that was the one place I didn't check. D'oh! I keep blanking on the fact that I can look there for things other than books. Deepdiscount.com doesn't have it yet, YesAsia.com has the Japanese release (no subtitles), what says it's the US release but also says it's dub only (bzuh?), the Korean release (which is still a preorder)...I shall be ordering mine, oh yes! Hee!!!

And until I have the equipment/DVD, I think asking [info]guiltyred is probably an excellent idea.

And? I just forced my way past what I hope is the worst of the audio/video mismatches to Seph's appearance. Okay...the chills I always get from hearing "Hisashiburi da na, Cloud" in that nummy NUMMY DEEP voice were a bit subdued since he was done saying it before his lips moved, but...every time they show Masamune full-length...you're right...it sings! And that's giving me even bigger chills every time I hear it. GUH!!!

Thankfully, that is not true. You can pick Japanese with English subtitles.
